AGROELECTRO: how we measure yield and why a control plot matters

Yield figures are easy to draw and hard to prove. Here is how the generator sits on the irrigation line, what we actually measured, and where our data stops.

First, about the numbers

The previous version of this article said: tomatoes +1200%, cucumbers ×8, fertiliser costs −85%. We removed those figures — not because they were invented, but because they do not survive scrutiny: the measurements came from a single greenhouse, with no control plot in the same season and no independent observer.

A number you cannot repeat is a story, not a result. What follows is what you can repeat.

How the generator works

AGROELECTRO is a generator that cuts into the irrigation system. The water passes through a section of pipe wrapped by a coil and is exposed to an alternating electromagnetic field.

Nothing goes into the soil. Nothing accumulates in the crop. The only thing that changes is what happens to the water on its way to the root — which is why the agronomist who works with us asks about your chemistry first and your water second.

Power comes from the mains or from a solar panel. On large fields we fit mobile modules to the main line; in greenhouses, fixed units at the irrigation node.

What we actually measured

In a 2,500 m² demonstration greenhouse we ran two blocks side by side: one with the generator, one without, at the same irrigation, soil and variety.

What we logged weekly: plant height, number of set fruit, weight harvested per square metre, water and fertiliser consumption. Plus a laboratory soil analysis at the start and end of the cycle.

There was a difference between the blocks, and it favoured the generator. We are not publishing exact coefficients until we complete a second season with the same protocol on a different crop. One season in one greenhouse is an observation, not data.

Why a control plot is not optional

This is the main thing we ask of every customer.

Yield depends on a dozen things at once: variety, weather, soil, irrigation schedule, how the feeding programme happened to go this year. Compare this year with last year and you can prove anything you like.

The comparison has to be in the same season, on the same field, with the same irrigation — simply without the generator on part of the area. It costs you a little yield on the control plot and gives you the one number worth believing.

We supply a log sheet and tell you what to measure. If your result differs from ours, that is not a reason to argue — it is a reason to look into it.

What we do not know

  • Whether it works the same on every crop. We ran tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy greens. About cereals, berries and orchards we have nothing to say.
  • What exactly happens to the water. We have conductivity readings before and after, and an observed difference between blocks. The mechanism linking the two, we do not have.
  • How long the effect lasts after switching off. We simply have not measured it.
  • Who this makes sense for

    A greenhouse or an irrigated field where you already track fertiliser costs and are willing to keep a log. Without a log you will not know whether it worked, and we do not want to sell equipment whose effect the customer cannot verify.
